Glenwood Springs Colorado
holds a large number of special events and festivals throughout the year. The following is just a partial list of what you can expect to find when you visit the region:
Pioneer Cemetery Ghost Walk
The Frontier Historical Society sponsors its annual fund-raiser Ghost Walk through Linwood (Pioneer) Cemetery in Glenwood Springs where folks can listen to the likes of Doc Holliday and other famous (or infamous) pioneers tell their stories. The event has become so popular that a second weekend has been added. Guides lead visitors up the hill to the old cemetery where actors portray characters from Glenwood Springs' past.
The Rocky Mountain Center MG Car Club Rally
The Rocky Mountain Center MG Car Club sponsors the oldest U.S. car rally, showcasing vintage and classic cars throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. In 2002 the MG Car Club celebrated their 50th anniversary in Glenwood Springs. This event is held in Glenwood Springs in early June.
Strawberry Days
Strawberry Days is always held the third Friday, Saturday and Sunday of June. Over 175 artisans and food vendors offer something for everyone. A hometown parade takes place on Saturday down Grand Avenue. Enjoy free strawberries, an artisan’s fair, games and more.
Summer of Jazz
Summer of Jazz takes center stage every summer in June and July at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. Enjoy an eclectic mixture of jazz - everything from New Orleans style to the avant-garde. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
Unique Boutique Craft Show
This annual craft show in Glenwood Springs features the work of local artists and is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. This craft show is one of the best, taking place every year on Election Day.
Night on the Town
The historic Hotel Colorado, the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association and other local businesses work together to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season, beginning the day after Thanksgiving. The day after Thanksgiving features the Hotel Colorado's annual courtyard lighting ceremony as well as the lighting of the official community Christmas tree in front of the chamber, at 11th and Grand. The events include entertainment, decorations, refreshments, fireworks and a craft show.
WinterFest Art Show and Sale
The Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts hosts this artistic holiday event to kick off the holiday shopping season. Look for such great gift ideas as handmade jewelry, pottery, sculpture, paintings and more from a variety of local artists. Winterfest is held the first weekend of December.
Ski Spree
On-mountain Ski Spree events at Sunlight Mountain Resort, located just 10 miles outside of Glenwood Springs, include a variety of snow-riding competitions such as the Rail Jam and the bump contest, downhill mountain bike race, cardboard derby and torchlight parade. Ski Spree is held the last weekend of January.
